Wisconsin State Journal reporter Tom Mulhern tweeted that defensive end Tyler Dippel will not play in the Badgers’ game against Purdue, two days after Badgers’ coach Bret Bielema said he would be a game-time decision.

According to Mulhern, Dippel didn’t even make the trip to West Lafayette, Ind.

Dippel, a 6’4, 262-pound junior, is second on the Badgers with two sacks this season, and has 12 total tackles.

He suffered a shoulder injury in Wisconsin’s 31-14 win at Illinois Oct. 6, his third consecutive start for Wisconsin. He didn’t practice all week leading up to the game.

It's another injury along the Badgers' defensive line. They were without defensive ends Brendan Kelly and Pat Muldoon earlier this season. Wisconsin (4-2, 1-1 Big 10) allows 19.2 yards per game – 29th in the NCAA.

The Badgers held Illinois to 284 yards in their last victory on Oct. 6 and are looking to win back-to-back contests for the second time this season.
