Tigers vs. Yankees, 2012 ALCS Game 2: Time, TV schedule, starting pitchers and more

The New York Yankees try to pull even in the ALCS with the Detroit Tigers in Game 2 Sunday at 4 p.m., but they’ll have to do it without injured star Derek Jeter.

The New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers play Game 2 of the American League Championship Series at 4:07 p.m. Sunday in New York. The game will be televised on TBS.

The Yankees will be without shortstop Derek Jeter for the rest of the playoffs. Jeter broke his ankle late in Detroit's 6-4, 12-inning win in Game 1 of the series. Jayson Nix came into the game at shortstop in Jeter's absence. Nix hit .243 with four home runs in a utility role this season.

Hiroki Kuroda (16-11, 3.32 ERA) starts for the Yankees, trying to help New York avoid falling behind two games to none in the series. Kuroda faced the Tigers twice this season. He had a 3.38 ERA against them and had no-decisions in each start. The Yankees were 1-1 in those games.

Kuroda picked up a win in his lone start in the Division Series against Baltimore, giving up two runs in 8⅓ innings and striking out three. Kuroda is pitching on just three days rest.

Anibal Sanchez (9-13, 3.86 ERA) starts for the Tigers. Sanchez pitched against the Yankees once this season, giving up seven runs in three innings in a loss Aug. 8. Sanchez took a loss for the Tigers in his lone playoff start this season, giving up two runs over 6 ⅓ innings against Oakland.
