The Atlanta Falcons stayed unbeaten on Sunday, defeating the Oakland Raiders by a final score of 23-20.

Atlanta trailed 13-7 at halftime after an uncharacteristically poor start by quarterback Matt Ryan in which he threw three interceptions. But the Falcons slowly clawed back, knocking in two field goals to tie things up at 13 entering the fourth. After both teams were unable to find the endzone for most of the quarter, the Falcons halted a lengthy Raiders drive and turned it into a touchdown following a 79-yard interception return by cornerback Asante Samuel.

The Raiders responded with an eight play, 80 yard drive of their own to make it 20-20, but Atlanta went 43 yards in just 39 seconds, culminating in a 55 yard field goal by kicker Matt Bryant.

The Falcons improve to 6-0 with the win, while the Raiders fall to 1-4. For Atlanta, the 6-0 start is the best in team history.

Fantasy studs/duds

Oakland wide receiver Denarius Moore had quite a day, bringing in five receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown. Atlanta wide receiver Roddy White, meanwhile, had a solid day himself with six receptions for 72 yards and a score. Atlanta's defense also put up strong fantasy numbers, recovering two fumbles and returning an interception for a touchdown.

Matt Ryan struggled at times, throwing for 249 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions. Running back Michael Turner didn't do much either, accumulating just 33 yards on 11 carries.

Asante Samuel makes Palmer pay

With the Raiders threatening to take the lead late in the fourth quarter, Atlanta cornerback Asante Samuel managed to pick off a Carson Palmer pass and took it nearly 80 yards the other way.

There was plenty more football to be played in the final 2:55, however.

What’s next?

Atlanta will have a bye week before taking on the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 28. The Raiders will face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars next week.
