While the future of the Sacramento Kings is still very much up in the air, it's good to know that the Maloofs are going to the mattresses. Literal mattresses.
Sacramento Kings sell arena naming rights to Sleep Train
Sleep Train Mattress Centers have gained the naming rights to the Sacramento Kings’ arena. Just thinking about it is making us tired.

Tony Bizjack and Dale Kasler from the Sacramento Bee report that, starting in November, the team’s Natomas arena has signed a five-year contract for naming rights with Sleep Train Mattress Centers.
It doesn’t appear that the two sides have announced an official name for the arena yet, although “Sleep Train Arena” is probably what they’ll go with. Here are some better names I thought up off the top of my head:
- Sleepy-Time Arena
- The Sacramento Kings Present: Slumbertown!
- Hit The Sack-ramento! (Kings Arena)
- 40 Winks Rink (Basketball is played on a rink, right?)
But whatever they end up calling it, the 2012-13 season is shaping up to be another enthralling year for the Kings. Don’t sleep on these guys.
