The Giants avoided elimination on Friday by defeating the Cardinals 5-0 behind Barry Zito. With the victory, the Giants also brought the series back to San Francisco. They will send Ryan Vogelsong to the mound in an attempt to send the series to Game 7. The Cardinals will counter with Chris Carpenter, who was defeated the Giants and Vogelsong 7-1 in Game 2 of the series.

Carpenter lasted just four innings in Game 2 and gave up five runs (two earned). Angel Pagan led off the bottom of the first with a home run and the Giants scored four times in the fourth when they were aided by two errors and a Marco Scutaro single.

Vogelsong pitched seven innings and allowed only one run, which came on a Carpenter double. He only allowed four hits on the evening as the Giants evened up the series at one game a piece.

The Giants are trying to come back from a 3-1 deficit. San Francisco fell behind the Cincinnati Reds 2-0 in the NLDS before winning three straight elimination games to advance to the NLCS.

Joe Buck will have the play-by-play for the game and Tim McCarver will be providing the color commentary. The broadcast begins at 7:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
