DeMarcus Ware says Cowboys defense can adapt without Sean Lee

Dallas’ DeMarcus Ware remains confident in the Cowboys and the defense, despite the loss of Sean Lee.

Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware expressed optimism and took a "next guy in" stance for the defense in a radio interview on ESPN Dallas. While the interview was conducted before the report the Cowboys would be without Sean Lee for the rest of the season, Ware was confident nonetheless in the defense remaining effective.

The star linebacker stressed that defensive coordinator Rob Ryan will not make changes to the scheme and that Dallas will make do with what it has. Personnel-wise, the Cowboys will rely on players such as Bruce Carter and Dan Connor to fill-in for the injured Lee.

Ware was also adamant that the Cowboys overall will be better going forward after starting the season with a 3-3 record:

We’re taking off now, and just let all the fans know that we’re a different team and this is where it all starts at.

A big divisional matchup with the New York Giants looms this week for Dallas, which is coming off a road victory against the Carolina Panthers. In the season-opener, the Cowboys topped New York, 24-17 at MetLife Stadium.
