Week 8 NFL picks: Raiders vs. Chiefs

The experts weigh in on the Week 8 AFC West showdown in Kansas City.

Brian Bahr

Although these two teams are technically in the basement of the AFC West at a combined 3-9 on the season, the Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs sit just one game and two games out of first place respectively. A win this week could go a long way for either team as they hope to catch the Denver Broncos for first place.

The Chiefs are coming out of a bye week not only riding a three-game losing streak but also trying out a new starting quarterback. Brady Quinn has surpassed Matt Cassel on the depth chart as the Chiefs look to the former first round draft pick to salvage their season.

Despite losing two of their last three, the Raiders have had a good couple of weeks. They came out of the bye and nearly took down the unbeaten Atlanta Falcons. They then came home and held on to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars in overtime.

The experts at ESPN are giving the team in black and silver a slight edge while Yahoo! goes in the other direction, giving the nod to the Chiefs. Meanwhile, CBS makes no bones about who they believe will emerge victorious as they throw their support behind the Raiders. The San Jose Mercury News experts go with their hometown squad over the Chiefs.
