Marcus Lattimore Injury: South Carolina RB injures right knee

Marcus Lattimore went down with a gruesome right knee injury on Saturday.

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE

Marcus Lattimore went down with a right knee injury on Saturday after taking a gruesome hit at the end of a carry. Lattimore was hit low at the end of a run, taking a helmet right to the knee. If you'll recall, Lattimore tore his left ACL last year and worked hard to get back onto the field for this season.

Lattimore stayed down on the ground in obvious pain as trainers rushed to attend to him. The cart was brought out as the entire South Carolina medical team surrounded him, with players taking a knee and a hush falling over the stadium.

There’s no word on the extent of the injury, but it looks bad. Lattimore did not put weight on the knee after going down, and was helped to his feet and placed on a cart after trainers worked on him.

There was, however, a pretty amazing moment as a result of all this. With Lattimore down and being attended to, the South Carolina team walked out onto the field to surrounded him. At the same time, Tennessee players joined him, creating a large circle around the injured player.

It says a lot about the Lattimore that both teams joined him as he was down on the field. Best of luck to the young man, and we’ll update more as we get it.
