Mississippi State vs. Alabama final score: Crimson Tide defeat Bulldogs 38-7

The Alabama Crimson Tide rolled over the Mississippi State Bulldogs 38-7.

Alabama jumped out early against the Bulldogs, scoring on their first drive of the game. The nine-play, 59-yard drive was capped off by an 11-yard run from Crimson Tide running back T.J. Yeldon. The freshman finished with 84 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.

Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron added two more scores, and a 34-yard field goal off the foot of kicker Jeremy Shelley put the Crimson Tide up 24-0 at half.

After a scoreless third quarter, Alabama found the end zone twice more in the fourth. The Crimson Tide defense totaled three turnovers and held the Bulldogs to 256 yards of total offense.

Box Score Hero: McCarron wasn’t spectacular but he was efficient, completing 16 of his 23 attempts for 208 yards and two touchdowns.

Rankings Ramifications: Alabama is expected to retain the top spot in the nation, while Mississippi State shouldn’t fall too far in the rankings following their first loss of the season.
