Good news! Dustin Pedroia texted Bobby Valentine that he was ready to play. Bad news! Valentine tried to read the text while riding a bicycle downhill.

Red Sox Manager Bobby Valentine suffered minor injuries to his knees and hips after skidding on his bike and sliding down a hill in New York's Central Park.

After dwelling on this story for a while, I have some conflicted thoughts on the matter. They are as follows:
- Valentine should have known better. That knowledge is pretty basic. I'll really let him have it if he tries that again.
- If I'm the GM, I don't care if your player has an injured hand. I'll bar you from the clubhouse if you do something dangerous like that.
- Shouldn't Valentine get hit with a fine for texting and riding? He ought to be slapped with Huffy at the least.
- It's not like Pedroia's injury really matters anyway, since the Red Sox deraill the Yankees by 25 games.
- Pedroia is a phenomenal talent. Every other second baseman wishes he could be him. Expect great things from him in the years to come.
- If Pedroia can play at full strength with a broken finger, that'll be a miracle. I personally wouldn't play if I were him.
- I bet the Red Sox locker room atmosphere has been rather tense. Pedroia's decision to play should help lift morale a bit.
