That glorious, unaltered photo you see above depicts Carlos Corporan -- a member of the Houston Astros -- attempting to slide into second base during Wednesday's game against the Chicago Cubs. This was the final game of the disastrous 2012 season for the Astros, who finish things up with a record of 55-107.
Astros finish season in Astros fashion
The Astros are bad at fielding, hitting and pitching. But even on the last day of the season, they find new ways to be awful.

The above picture illustrates why the Astros lost 107 games and can sort of function as an image of the 2012 season in a nutshell. As can the below image, which is the reverse angle of the “slide.”

Much more of a faceplant, really. Went 162 games without ever learning not to slide with your face. Best of luck in 2013, Astros. The National League is really going to miss you.
