The Denver Broncos had a dominating performance on Sunday night, thrashing the New Orleans Saints 34-14. That win put the Broncos at 4-3 on the season, giving them sole possession of first place in the AFC West after San Diego fell to Cleveland 7-6.
Keith Brooking: ‘You can’t believe the hype’
Expectations are starting to grow for the Denver Broncos, but veteran linebacker Keith Brooking warns against players buying into the media narrative

With the team's first back-to-back wins on the season and with future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning starting to find his groove, expectations about this Denver team are starting to rise. Veteran linebacker Keith Brooking, however, wants his teammates to stay focused amongst the growing pressure.
Brooking went on 104.3 The Fan in Denver on Tuesday, and discussed how the team needs to avoid a letdown after a big win on national television. Brooking told KFFN that:
“We’re never as good as ya’ll say we are and we’re never as bad, so you just can’t believe the hype. Just turn on the film and watch that last series [Sunday] night, we’ve got work to do. ... You’ve just got to be consistent with your approach every day; that’s so important.
Brooking has played on some well-hyped teams (Vick-Era Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys) in his career, so the media attention should be nothing new for him. It's hard for NFL players to completely ignore the media that surrounds them, so not buying in and staying focused is probably the best advice Brooking has for the younger members of the Broncos.
Denver will look to win their third straight game when they travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals at 1 PM ET.
