Bryan Burwell of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch wrote a column on Tuesday explaining why long-time running back of the St. Louis Rams Steven Jackson will not be traded despite the NFL extended the trade deadline by 48 hours. Rumors have been swirling around the veteran, especially after last week's quiet performance.
Steven Jackson trade rumors likely won’t materialize
There are lots of rumors surrounding a potential trade for Rams running back Steven Jackson, but they are unlikely to come to fruition.

Burwell acknowledges that Jackson's time in St. Louis is limited. The Rams have Daryl Richardson and Isaiah Pead as potential replacements for the star running back, and the 29 year-old has logged a lot of miles on his legs. He even agrees that the amount of rumors surrounding Jackson suggests that the Rams have likely had conversations with other team's about Jackson's availability.
Despite these points, however, Jackson is unlikely to moved by Thursday. Jackson’s contract is almost expiring, so other team’s are unlikely to be willing to part with a high draft pick. Burwell points out that Jackson is more valuable to the Rams right now than a late draft pick, but that’s all they will likely be offered.
Steven Jackson is certainly available for “the right price,” but it’s unlikely that any team will be willing to pay that price. Therefore, expect Jackson to stay in St. Louis past Thursday.
