Lance Armstrong effigy to be burned Saturday

The former seven-time Tour de France winner has been selected as the latest celebrity to be burned as part of Edenbridge, England’s annual Bonfire Night celebrations, famous around the country. The 30-foot tall effigy, which will be burned on Saturday, includes a sign that reads, “For sale, racing bike, no longer required.”
Towns across Britain light bonfires and set off fireworks on Nov. 5 to commemorate Guy Fawkes’ failed plot in 1605 to blow up Parliament.
Typically, the effigy is of Fawkes, but in recent years, famous members of pop culture have been used, including Russell Brand and Wayne Rooney.
The figure will be stuffed with oil-soaked newspapers, packed with fireworks and torched in front of thousands of people on Saturday night.
