Phillies bolster coaching staff with Ryne Sandberg, others
Just 24 hours after announcing the firing of their hitting, bench and first base coaches, the Philadelphia Phillies have already found in-house replacements those positions and promoted several others.

Mick Billmeyer, Rich Dubee and Juan Samuel have all been offered positions for the 2013 season. Steve Henderson, Rod Nichols and Ryne Sandberg were promoted from their roles in the Phillies player development system.
Hall-of-Famer Sandberg -- who has been managing in the Cubs and Phillies' minor league systems for the past six seasons -- will serve as the team's new third base coach and infield instructor. Samuel -- the current third base and outfield coach -- has been offered the first-base coaching job to make room for Sandberg.
Henderson will take over for Greg Gross as the team's new hitting coach. The Tampa Bay Rays' hitting coach from 2006-09, Henderson has spent the last two seasons as a hitting coordinator in the Phillies' minor league system.
Billmeyer has been promoted from bullpen coach -- where he worked for four years -- to catching coach. Nichols, who served the last eight seasons as a pitching coach at Triple-A, will take over in the bullpen for Billmeyer.
