The Twins announced major changes to their coaching staff on Thursday, after a 2012 season in which Minnesota compiled a 66-96 record. It is the second straight year in which Minnesota has lost 96 or more games. Via Bob Nightengale, MLB writer for the USA Today:

Bullpen coach Rick Stelmaszek, third base coach Steve Liddle, first base coach Jerry White and head trainer Rick McWane have all been let go by the Twins, with Minnesota reassigning hitting coach Joe Vavra and bench coach Scott Ullger. Vavra will now oversee infield instruction, while Ullger will be in charge of outfield instruction. Stelmaszek has spent 32 years as a coach and was the longest-tenured member of the ballclub.

The team has not yet named replacements for the fired staff members. Triple-A Rochester coaches Tom Brunansky and Bobby Cuellar, as well as manager Gene Glynn, are possibilities to join the big league coaching staff.
