Nick Mangold injury: Jets center carted off

New York Jets center Nick Mangold was carted off to the locker room after injuring his ankle early in the third quarter Monday night against the Houston Texans.

New York Jets center Nick Mangold was injured early in the third quarter Monday night with the Jets trailing the Houston Texans, 17-7.

With 14:53 remaining in the third quarter, Jets running back Joe McKnight ran up the middle for 1 yard. When the pile cleared, Mangold remained on the ground, face down.

Replay showed that when the tackle pile moved toward Mangold, Texans defensive endJ.J. Watt rolled up on Mangold’s right ankle. He remained on the ground for a few minutes before walking off the field gingerly with the help of two trainers. Mangold was replaced by Matt Slauson at the center position.

ESPN has reported Mangold’s return to be questionable.

The Jets’ run game struggled mightily Monday night prior to the injury to their All-Pro center. New York only has 43 rushing yards.

Mangold is in his seventh NFL season, all with the New York Jets. He has made the Pro Bowl four times.
