Sean Mannion injury a meniscus tear, according to multiple reports

The previously-reported knee injury to Oregon State starting quarterback Sean Mannion is a meniscus tear, according to several reports.

As noted Monday night by SB Nation’s Pacific Takes, a timetable of 3-4 weeks means Mannion will not play for the undefeated Beavers as they face BYU, Utah, and Washington, and possibly Arizona State. Brandon Sprague of 1080 AM in Portland confirmed Monday night’s reports this afternoon, while stating that the 3-4 week timetable seems most realistic.

The news came just as the Beavers crossed into the top ten of the AP Poll. Mannion led Oregon State to a 4-0 record to start the season, completing 63% of his passes for 1,358 yards and seven touchdowns. He finished last week’s game against Washington State with the injury, but underwent surgery shortly thereafter.

Mike Riley and Oregon State will turn to junior Cody Vaz, who has thrown 17 passes in his college career, as the Beavers travel to take on one of the nation's best defenses in BYU.
