Phil Jackson reportedly could coach Lakers Friday

Phil Jackson is reportedly leaning towards accepting the Los Angeles Lakers coaching position and could return by Friday’s game against the Phoenix Suns.

Phil Jackson is leaning towards returning to the Los Angeles Lakers for his third head coaching stint with the team, according to Mark Spears of Yahoo! Sports. Jackson could potentially be back by Friday's contest against the Phoenix Suns, after holding two practices in the off days leading up to the game.

Los Angeles has been pursuing both Jackson and former New York Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni, with Jackson being at the top of the list. According to ESPN's Arash Markazi, star shooting guard Kobe Bryant has said that he likes both options.

The Lakers fired Mike Brown after a tumultuous start to the season with the team losing four of its first five games, including two at home at the Staples Center. Since firing Brown, the Lakers have won consecutive games against the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings under interim coach Bernie Bickerstaff.
