Chargers vs. Buccaneers, Week 10: San Diego disappoints again

The San Diego Chargers continued their decline with a 34-24 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon.

Quarterback Philip Rivers kept the San Diego Chargers in the game as long as he could before making costly mistakes, leading to a 34-24 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon.

Rivers tossed two interceptions in the fourth quarter and the Chargers were outscored 17-3 in the second half en route to suffering their fourth loss in the last five games.

There aren’t many positives to take away from the game, according to Bolts From The Blue:

I guess, since the defense only gave up 20 points, you could maybe argue that they weren’t awful. To that I would respond “The defense gave up 4 scores while forcing just 3 punts”. That’s not a great stat if you’re trying to make the defense look good.

The San Diego defense didn’t get much help with one of Rivers’ interceptions being returned for a touchdown and a blocked punt resulting in another score.

Going forward, the Chargers face the division-leading Denver Broncos next weekend before taking on a slew of AFC North opponents. Despite playing in the weakest division in football, San Diego will likely miss the playoffs and need to consider making changes at the head coach and general manager position.
