College basketball rankings: Indiana stays No. 1 in both polls

The Indiana Hoosiers stay atop both the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll following their season opening victory over Bryant.

Joe Robbins

A 97-54 season-opening win over Bryant keep the Indiana Hoosiers atop both the AP Top 25 Poll and the Coaches' Poll.

In both the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll, the top five of Indiana, Louisville, Kentucky, Ohio State and Michigan went unchanged. The entire top 10 kept the same teams as well, however, Syracuse moved up one spot to No. 8 following their 62-49 win over No. 25 San Diego State, jumping No. 9 Duke.

The Connecticut Huskies cracked the AP Top 25 after defeating Michigan State in Germany on Friday. UConn now sits at No. 23, slightly behind the Spartans, who dropped seven spots to No. 21.

Next week will surely see a change in the rankings as this week’s schedule slates several ranked teams against each other: No. 9 Duke vs. No. 3 Kentucky, No. 21 Michigan State vs. No. 7 Kansas, and No. 22 Wisconsin vs. No. 10 Florida.

Here is the complete AP Top 25 Poll:
