Marlins-Blue Jays trade reaction: Giancarlo Stanton is ‘pissed off!!!’

The Marlins and Blue Jays reportedly are set to pull off one of the biggest trades in recent baseball history. Florida’s players are confused and angry, while Toronto is a bit more pleased with it all.

Apparently not satisfied with letting college basketball’s 24-hour marathon have the sports spotlight, news of a blockbuster trade in baseball broke Tuesday night: the Miami Marlins, salary-dumping enthusiasts, are reportedly set to send SS Jose Reyes and starting pitchers Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle to the Toronto Blue Jays. But wait, there’s more!

Additionally, Miami will throw in catcher John Buck and utility player Emilio Bonifacio, in exchange for some of the Blue Jays’ top prospects, including shortstops Adeiny Hechavarria and Yunel Escobar, pitchers Henderson Alvarez and Justin Nicolino and outfielder Jake Marisnick.

News of the trade broke -- where else? -- on Twitter, with reactions flying furiously, 140 characters at a time. And since it is 2012, no longer are you left to wonder what the players think of the trade, because many of them are happy to broadcast their thoughts -- positive and negative -- for the world to see. What a magical time we live in!

The Blue Jays’ minor-leaguer Justin Nicolino was the first to indirectly confirm he was headed to Miami ...

Then the Marlins players began to chime in, starting with reliever Steve Cishek:

Outfielder Justin Ruggiano was just trying to catch up ...

... while pitcher Ricky Nolasco was just as confused/surprised as everyone else:

Giancarlo Stanton, possibly the last major leaguer left on the Marlins’ roster, shared his thoughts, and he was none too pleased!

When managing a professional sports franchise, always make sure your best player is kept in the dark and then very upset. Sports 101.

On the other side of the social media network, the Blue Jays were flexing their Klout scores in an expectedly more positive manner.
