The New York Knicks had been getting all the luck during their 6-0 start to the NBA season. That all came to a halt on Friday night as the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Knicks, 105-95, at FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee. The Knicks fall to 6-1 with the loss, while the Grizzlies improve to 7-1, maintaining first place in the Southwest Division.

Neither team was able to gain a clear advantage in the first half, with Memphis taking a five-point lead into halftime after ending the second quarter on a 5-0 mini run. It was the third quarter where things turned sour for the Knicks. New York was outscored by 13 in the quarter, the Memphis lead swelling to as many as 21 before a couple of late shots put the differential at 19. New York would come out in the fourth quarter with enough fight to cut the lead to ten, but the Grizzlies were able take advantage of a tired Knicks defense to put the game away.
Marc Gasol paced the Grizzlies with 24, while Zach Randolph added 20 and 15 rebounds. Rudy Gay chipped in 17 and Mike Conley 16 for Memphis. Carmelo Anthony scored 20 and Raymond Felton added 18 for New York, who lost despite shooting over 50%.
