The Alabama Crimson Tide hosted the Western Carolina Catamounts on Saturday, in what will probably be the biggest mismatch of the college football season. Alabama is one of the best teams in all of college football, and Western Carolina are a 1-8 FCS team with zero conference wins. The game went exactly how everyone thought it would, with the Tide coasting to an easy 49-0 win.

The Tide were in cruise control by the second quarter, as they had no problem dealing with Western Carolina, winning 49-0.
Alabama started the game by scoring touchdowns on their first six possessions, and also scored a defensive touchdown during that run. It was 21-0 after the first quarter, and 42-0 at halftime, so there was very little drama to the proceedings. Starting quarterback A.J. McCarron played for a little more than one quarter, and was pulled after throwing a touchdown pass to Christion Jones to make it 28-0 after about 17 minutes. Blake Sims came on for McCarron, and guided the offense with the express purpose of chewing up clock. The defense was suffocating, holding a completely outmatched Western Carolina team to only eight first downs on the afternoon.
Eddie Lacy, T.J. Yeldon, and Blake Sims had rushing touchdowns for Alabama, which passed only ten times on the day.
Box Score Hero: Eddie Lacy lead the Tide with 99 rushing yards and three touchdowns, all while being rested in the second half.
Rankings Ramifications: Barring a loss by one of the teams ahead of them, Alabama will not rise in the polls as a result of this win.
But Did They Cover? Alabama came into the game as 55.5 point favorites, so they did not cover the spread. Bums.
