According to numerous reports, Juan Pierre has re-signed with the Miami Marlins. Pierre played for the Marlins from 2003-2005. He spent last season with the Philadelphia Phillies where he hit .307/.351/.371 with 37 stolen bases.

The move comes only a couple of days after news of the Marlins' plan to send Jose Reyes, Josh Johnson, Mark Buehrle, Emilio Bonifacio and John Buck to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for prospects.

Pierre, 35, is a career .297/.346/.363 hitter in 13 seasons. He has 2,141 career hits and 591 stolen bases. He has also spent time with the Colorado Rockies, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox.

He has led the league in stolen bases three times and hits twice. Pierre was an important member of the World Series champion Marlins in 2003. That season he hit .305/.361/.373 and had 204 hits, 65 stolen bases and finished 10th in the National League MVP voting.

Marlins beat writer Juan C. Rodriguez confirmed that Pierre has signed for one-year, $1.6 million.
