Arizona Wildcats quarterback Matt Scott received a concussion the game against UCLA two-weeks ago. The concussion was severe enough to keep Scott out of the Wildcats' next game. Luckily for 'Zona, was able to pull off the victory against Colorado without its starting QB. After receiving clearance from Arizona's medical team, Scott returned to the lineup Saturday night against the Utah Utes. He wasn't nearly as active as he had been prior to the concussion, but he still lead his team to victory over Utah, 34-24.

Arizona scored the only points of the first quarter, with a 44-yard field goal by kicker John Bonano. The offense for both teams picked up significantly in the second. Utah scored the game's first touchdown on 3 yard dash up the middle by Coleman Petersen.

Less than three minutes later, Arizona answered Utah's touchdown with one of their own. The Wildcats leading rusher, Ka'Deem Carey, ran 1 yard into the end zone, to give Arizona the 10-7 lead.

The concussion did not discourage the mobile ‘Zona QB from running. Scott ran for 10 yards and Arizona’s second TD of the game. With 4:16 left in the half, the Utes earned a touchdown on a 34-yard Travis Wilson pass to Jake Murphy, bringing the Utes within three at the close of the half.

Utah continued to score in the third. Coleman Petersen kicked a 24-yard field goal to tie the score at 17-17. Utah took the lead with 2:31 remaining in the quarter. Quarterback Travis Wilson gave the ball to DeVonte Christopher. Christopher ran 36 yards for the TD, capturing the lead for the Utes, 24-17.

The fourth quarter was all Arizona. Wildcat Daniel Jenkins rushed for the 2 yard touchdown, to tie the score again. Scott hit receiver Austin Hill with an 18 yard pass for the score. 'Zona now lead 31-24. After controlling Utah's offense the remainder of the game, Arizona capped its victory with a field goal. Final score: 34-24.

Box Score Hero: For the season, Arizona running back Ka’Deem Carey has been a workhorse. Saturday night was no different. Carey had 26 carries for 204 yards.

Rankings Ramifications: Neither team is ranked. Arizona might inch closer to the top 25, but that’s a big ‘might’.

But Did They Cover? Utah was favored by 3 points coming in. Arizona didn’t need the boost to cover.

Next Week’s Schedule: It’s the battle of the desert next week for Arizona, as the Wildcats head to Tempe to take on in-state rival, Arizona State. Utah escapes the cold of Salt Lake City for the cold of Boulder to play Colorado.
