On Sunday, the 2012 Davis Cup reaches its finale. After two days of competition, the team from the Czech Republic leads the Spanish contingent two points to one. Two matches are schedule for the day, but the Czech Republic needs to only take one match to secure victory.

As the 2012 Davis Cup reaches its conclusion, the final day will not disappoint. The Czech Republic leads the team from Spain two points to one. If the Czech’s beat Spain in the first match, they win; however, if Spain wins the first match, it forces a final do-or-die single match for the title.

The first match of the finale, or Round 4, features two competitors that have been the most successful for their respective teams thus far. The Czech Republic sends world No. 6 Tomas Berdych to the court against Spaniard David Ferrer.
Ferrer, the world No. 5, competed in and won his only match thus far in Round 1 against Radek Stepanek.
Berdych has spent considerably more time in match play this series. In Round 2, he defeated Spain’s Nicolas Almagro three sets to two. Following his singles victory, Berdych joined Radek Stepanek in Round 3 doubles against Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez. The Czech pairing defeated Spain three sets to one.
Should the Czech Republic lose the Round 4 match, the series would become tied at two points each. The tie-breaking, Round 5 match, is between Stepanek and Almagro. Both men lost their individual matches earlier in the tournament.
