Jeremy Maclin injury: Eagles WR will play Sunday

Jeremy Maclin will start for Philadelphia on Sunday against Washington, despite a back strain suffered against the Cowboys last week.

Chris McGrath

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin will play Sunday against the Washington Redskins, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Maclin, who suffered a back strain in the first quarter of last week's game against the Dallas Cowboys, practiced for the Eagles on Friday and will start against Washington. Maclin would stay in that game and haul in a 44-yard touchdown pass from Foles in the third quarter, finishing with eight catches for 96 yards. With third receiver Jason Avant out with a hamstring injury, and rookie QB Nick Foles making his first career start in place of the concussed Michael Vick, Maclin's status comes as a good break for an injury-plagued Eagles offense. Maclin and the Eagles face a Redskins secondary that ranks 30th in the NFL in passing defense, allowing over 300 yards per game.

Maclin has 36 receptions this season for 449 yards and four touchdowns. A fourth-year pro, Maclin’s best season came in 2010, when he had 70 catches for 964 yards and ten scores.
