US PRESSWIRE

The Arizona Diamondbacks are active on the market: they got bullpen help by acquiring reliever Matt Reynolds from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for infielder Ryan Wheeler on Tuesday afternoon. They intend on exploring more options in several other spots.

One of those options is free-agent infielder Jeff Keppinger, according to a report by Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic.

The 32-year-old Florida native has played for the Royals, Reds, Astros, Giants and Rays during eight years in the majors. He's shown versatility in all infield positions, while also proving efficient against left-handed pitching. That's why he is an interesting piece for any organization, and Arizona can certainly use his help.

He would probably be best fit for third base, but he can fill in any other spot if needed. His situational hitting is also worthy of consideration, while playing solid defense.

Keppinger hit .325 with 125 hits in 385 plate apperances with Tampa Bay last season, with 15 doubles, nine home runs and 40 RBIs.
