Domestic violence charges dropped against K-Rod

Francisco Rodriguez’s domestic violence charges have been dropped because the alleged victim and witness are out of the country.

Jeff Hanisch-US PRESSWIRE

Domestic battery charges against free agent pitcher Francisco Rodriguez, a former member of the Milwaukee Brewers, were dropped Thursday by a Wisconsin prosecutor because the victim and a witness have returned to Venezuela.

Rodriguez was charged last month after incidents at his home in Wales involving his 23-year-old girlfriend, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The case was flawed from the start: the alleged victim stated that Rodriguez had injured her. However, three days later, she changed her story and said the argument started because of her.

Since the victim is not present, the state could not meet its burden of proof, and the case was dismissed.

Rodriguez is currently in Venezuela and has been seen training with his winter league club Tiburones de La Guaira. He is expected to be included in the team’s roster next week. Rodriguez was 2-7 last year with Milwaukee, being used as a setup man, with 72 strikeouts and a 4.38 ERA in 72 innings of work.
