Dexter Fowler has ‘sky high’ price from Rockies

The Colorado outfielder has a big price tag that might be making teams look somewhere else.

Colorado Rockies General Manager Dan O'Dowd holds outfielder Dexter Fowler in very high regard. So high, in fact, other teams are considering him very pricey, and it looks like he will remain at Coors Field.

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reports that the Rockies might be seeking a lot in return for the 26-year-old outfielder. One executive is quoted as saying the price is “sky high.”

This wouldn't be the first time O'Dowd has valued Fowler at Tiffany-like prices. Last offseason, there were reports of a deal over Martin Prado falling off since the Braves thought Colorado was asking a lot in return for Fowler.

Fowler’s splits might be reason for concern: He has a career .882 OPS at Coors, compared to .698 on the road, fueling the case for stating that hitter-friendly Coors Field has helped him to inflate his numbers.

He hit .300 with 136 hits in 454 at-bats with the Rockies in 2012, with 18 doubles, 11 triples, 13 homers, 53 RBI and 12 stolen bases.
