The Portland Trailblazers defeated the Houston Rockets 95-85 in overtime.

The Portland Trailblazers defeated the Houston Rockets 95-85 in overtime. The game was extremely close throughout, but the Trailblazers broke it open in overtime on their way to the victory.

The game was back and forth through the first quarter, as neither club led by more than five points over the first 12 minutes. James Harden and Patrick Patterson combined to score the Rockets’ first 14 points, with Harden scoring the team’s first six.

Houston led by two after the first, and they padded their lead heading into the half. They scored the first 10 points of the second quarter and entered halftime with a 45-37 lead.

The game remained close into the fourth quarter, as Portland stormed back in the third. Trailblazers small forward Nicolas Batum scored 13 of the team’s 27 third-quarter points.

Rockets guard Jeremy Lin used a pivotal and-one to put Houston up 81-78 with just over a minute left in the fourth quarter, but Trailblazers guard Wesley Matthews tied things up with a three, sending the game into overtime.

Four Trailblazers finished with double-digit scoring totals, including Batum (17), Damien Lillard (20), Mattews (16) and LaMarcus Aldridge (27). Patterson (12), Lin (13), Harden (24) and Marcus Morris (13) all finished in double-digits for the Rockets.
