Brooklyn Nets forward Gerald Wallace will miss Friday night's game against the Orlando Magic with a sprained ankle, his third missed game of the season.

The Nets’ forward has only appeared in one game this season, nursing an ankle injury sustained in the season opener.

Wallace is out of his walking boot, according to the Nets, but is not at a point where he can return to action. Injuring his ankle late in Brooklyn's season opener against the Toronto Raptors, the swing man scored 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 30 minutes. Without him, the Nets have struggled, posting back-to-back losses to the Minnesota Timberwolves and Miami Heat; on both occasions, they lost by double-digits.
In his absence, the Nets have turned to veteran Keith Bogans to start. Averaging 12.3 points on .500 shooting, he's been effective, but lacks the versatility on both ends of the floor that the defensive-minded Wallace brings to the table. It's this aspect to his game Brooklyn are missing the most. The team is giving up an average of 103.3 points per game, 27th in the NBA.
Wallace could get another shot at the Magic if his ankle heals over the weekend. Orlando travels to Brooklyn to face the Nets once again on Sunday.
