Anibal Sanchez reportedly wants $90 million

The right-hander is said to be looking for a C.J. Wilson type of contract after a strong postseason run.

Anibal Sanchez, who helped pitch the American League champion Detroit Tigers to the World Series, is said to be looking for a contract worth about $90 million over six years, or about $15 million per season. The 28-year-old righty made $8 million in 2012, his final season of arbitration eligibility, and is represented by SFX.

Sanchez began his 2012 campaign in Miami, where he tossed 121 innings and posted a 3.47 FIP, giving up 119 hits and 33 walks while striking out 110. The Marlins dealt the Venezuelan to Detroit at the trade deadline, where he proceeded to throw 74⅔ innings with a 3.74 ERA. He allowed 81 hits and 15 walks while striking out 57 in the Motor City.

The righty’s asking price might be inflated by his postseason performance, though. Between the ALDS, ALCS and World Series, Sanchez pitched 20⅓ innings over three games, accumulating a 1.77 ERA by allowing just 14 hits and four runs while whiffing 18 batters.
