Jeff Kent on building fires or whatever

We probably shouldn’t make too much fun of reality shows. Baseball is kind of like a reality show. When Ozzie Guillen said anything, it was pretty much Real World-ish fascination that drew us toward it. I guess Ozzie stopped being polite, and started GETTING REAL!

That written, I’ve never watched Survivor, and this doesn’t make me want to:

Kent, a strong and well-liked player who was very good at looking people in the face and lying to them even though he says he hated doing it, was voted out essentially because the leader of a rival alliance had targeted him as a threat, while Jonathan Penner, a strong member of his own alliance and “Survivor” veteran on whom he’d previously drawn up a botched hit, didn’t vote with the group. But that’s relevant to your interests because the “Kent” up there is Jeff Kent, former major-leaguer and likely (?) Hall of Famer. If you want the skinny on his time on Survivor, you can get it from the fabulous Tim Marchman at the Wall Street Journal.
