The NBA Developmental League's newest sponsor certainly isn't what you would expect. The Dallas Legends, who are the Dallas Mavericks' affiliate team, will now be sponsored by a state in Mexico, according to an ESPN report:
The Dallas Legends, sponsored by Veracruz
An NBA Developmental League team will have an unusual new sponsor.

The NBA Development League is announcing a non-traditional sponsorship on Tuesday as the state of Veracruz in Mexico is sponsoring the Dallas Legends.
The state’s marketing phrase “Veracruz Incomparable” will appear on the front of the team’s jerseys beginning Saturday, when Veracruz becomes the first state to have its name on the jerseys of a team that doesn’t play in that town.
Veracruz is located 1,2000 miles from Dallas, so this is certainly unusual. Nevertheless, the Latino population in Texas is large and is expected to continue to grow. In that sense, it makes sense.
Personally, if this ends with a commercial of Jae Crowder in a sombrero, I won't complain.
