Remember in 2009, when learned about the possibility Alex Rodriguez had "two painted portraits of himself as a centaur," according to an ex-lover? Well, because life is a beautiful thing and will eventually give you what you want if you just can be a bit patient, A-Rod actually addressed those rumors over the weekend. From the Daily News:
Alex Rodriguez denies Minotaur rumors, says nothing of Centaur
A-Rod took time over the weekend to deny those rumors about his portraits of Centaurs ... or did he?!
“No, I do not have a painting of my upper body on a Minotaur,” he told Confidenti@l at a toy drive over the weekend. “I don’t know where they get that stuff.”
But wait -- a Minotaur denial is not the same as a Centaur denial. The former is a creature with the head of a bull and body of a man, while the latter is half man, half horse (duh). And that Greek mythology fun fact did not get past the official site of the Yankees:
Note that he said nothing of a centaur portrait ... Was it just a slip of the tongue by A-Rod? Or was it a clever non-denial carefully orchestrated to fool those not so versed in mythological beasts of antiquity?
So not only did a member of baseball’s 600-home run club have to deny rumors he has self-Centaur portraits hanging in his house, but his team’s official site covered the news, and took him to task for the wording in his denial.
Everything about that is either the absolute greatest or ... no, yeah, it’s the greatest.
