Unranked Indiana State proved to be a tough opponent, but No. 18 San Diego State advanced to the final of the Diamond Head Classic with a 62-55 win Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.

San Diego State advanced to the final of the Diamond Head Classic with a win over Indiana State.


Jamaal Franklin had a monster game for the Aztecs (11-1), scoring 19 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Chase Tapley added 13 points and three rebounds, and Xavier Thames contributed 12 points, three rebounds and three assists.
R.J. Mahurin had 15 points and four rebounds to lead the Sycamores (6-4). Manny Arop chipped in 13 points, four rebounds and one assist, and Justin Gant had 11 points and five rebounds.
In a close game, San Diego State came away victorious by playing physically and getting to the free throw line. The Aztecs drew 22 fouls and hit 18 of 28 free throw attempts, including 9 of 11 from Franklin. Indiana State, on the other hand, only drew 15 fouls and knocked down 9 of 10 foul shots.
The win was San Diego State's 11th straight since falling to Syracuse in the season opener, 62-49. The Aztecs will face the winner of Arizona-Miami Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN2 in the Diamond Head Classic final. The semifinal between the Wildcats and Hurricanes tips off Saturday night at 11:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
