No. 14 Cincinnati overcame an eight-point deficit at halftime to beat No. 24 Pitt, 70-61, on Monday at Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh.

Cincinnati trailed at the half but used a big second-half performance on offense to secure win No. 12 on the season.


Led by guard Cashmere Wright, who finished with 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor, the Bearcats outscored Pitt 44-27 in the second half on Monday. Cincinnati had to overcome a horrendous shooting performance in the first half, and shot just 41.8 percent in the game and only 3-of-16 from three-point range.
No. 24 Pitt, who had been No. 4 in the nation in shooting percentage at 51.8 on the season, shot 44 percent from the floor against Cincinnati and failed to hit a three-pointer in ten attempts from long range. Forward Talib Zanna led the Panthers with 16 points in 32 minutes, while Lamar Patterson added four rebounds and four assists on top of 13 points in the game.
Cincinnati is now 13-1 on the season and opens conference play with a big win over Pittsburgh, who had won eight in a row following a loss to No. 4 Michigan.
