Chicago Cubs' manager Dale Sveum was shot by Robin Yount while the two were hunting quail, according to Paul Sullivan of the Chcago Tribune. The two are good friends and hunt together frequently, though maybe they aren't as close as Sveum thinks. Sveum details how it happened:
Dale Sveum shot by Robin Yount on recent hunting trip
Chicago Cubs’ manager Dale Sveum was shot by good friend Robin Yount on a recent quail hunting trip, but shrugs it off as “not that big a deal”.

“Luckily I was just kind of climbing, looking for birds myself when it was behind me. So I got drilled with pellets in the back and one stuck in my ear.”
One wonders if Sveum owed Yount some money or something. Sveum insists he’s fine, and implored the media to not make too big of a deal about it. “It’s not that big a deal,” he said.
But it is a big deal. Of course, getting sprayed with bird shot is not exactly like taking a slug in the gut. But still. He got shot. At the very least, it makes for a good story. If he ever starts losing respect in the Cubs’ clubhouse, he can just nonchalantly drop the story into casual conversation. “Yeah, I got shot once. It wasn’t a big deal though.” Boom. Instant cred.
