Pacquiao vs Marquez Odds: Betting Preview of Fourth Battle

Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez betting has yielded some frustrating losses and surprise profits for boxing fans over the years. Pacman is favored again in the fourth edition of their classic battle.

The argument can be made that Manny Pacquiao has never beaten Juan Manuel Marquez, despite the fact he has never lost to him.

But oddsmakers still favor Pacman, ranging from -250 moneyline chalk to -280 at sportsbooks tracked by OddsShark.com this week, as the warriors step into the ring for their fourth battle.

Pacquiao’s two decisions over Marquez were two of the most controversial verdicts in boxing history. His draw against Marquez back in 2004 was also hotly contested and hotly debated, after Marquez weathered a first-round flurry to stage a remarkable comeback.

Manny Pacquiao (54-4-2, 38 KOs) faces Marquez (54-6-1, 39 KOs) Saturday in a scrap that sees the over-under on the number of rounds at 10.5. The OVER is the favored position at most sportsbooks, as all three prior matches have lasted the full 12 rounds.

But is Pacquiao motivated to a superior effort here? At 39, is Marquez able to summon the strength and stamina to beat the younger man on his fourth try?

Marquez would pay +220 for the upset, a nice $220 payout on a $100 boxing wager. Many experts believe he can finally get the job done or finally convince the judges he has done enough to win.

It should be another classic power vs style match as Pacquiao’s superior strength, athleticism and power is thwarted by Marquez’s technique and intelligence.

Pacquiao comes off his own controversial loss (against Timothy Bradley) while Marquez fought in April, defeating Serhiy Fedchenko by unanimous decision.

The first fight in the trilogy was in 2004. It was one of those crazy scoring decisions where one judge had it 115-110 for each man and the third judge has it 113-113. The draw judge later admitted to making a mistake, since the first round’s three knockdowns should have been scored 10-6 (instead of 10-7).

Pacquiao won by split decision in another controversy in 2008 and by majority decision in 2011 in a fight many believe Marquez had won. Does revenge or other personal motivation factor into the line?
