Yankees ‘listening’ to offers on Granderson, others

The New York Yankees are rumored to be shopping Curtis Granderson, Ivan Nova and Phil Hughes on the trade market.

Tom Szczerbowski-US PRESSWIRE

The New York Yankees are said to be fielding offers on Curtis Granderson, Ivan Nova and Phil Hughes, according to Andrew Marchand of ESPN New York.

The Bronx Bombers would likely be looking to fill holes in their lineup left by the departure of Russell Martin, who signed on with the PIttsburgh Pirates, and the injury to Alex Rodriguez, which is likely to keep him out for a significant amount of the 2013 season. The Yanks made many attempts to fill these holes via free agency, but they were beaten out by the Pirates (!!!) for Martin, the Diamondbacks for Eric Chavez and the White Sox for Jeff Keppinger.

Granderson made his second straight All-Star team in 2012, hitting .232/.319/.492 while socking 43 home runs. Hughes had a solid year in the Yankees’ rotation, starting 32 games with a 4.23 ERA. Nova’s sophomore campaign was disappointing as he struggled with an ERA over 5 and gave up 28 home runs.
