2012 NCAA hockey schedule: Notre Dame hosts Michigan State

In a busy NCAA hockey Saturday, Notre Dame, one of the top teams in the nation, will hit the ice.

Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish, one of the top teams in the nation, will host CCHA-foe Michigan State on Saturday, but that is just one of the many NCAA hockey games slated for Saturday.

The Fighting Irish (11-4-0) enter Saturday as one of the few teams in the nation at 11 wins or more, thanks to an impressive 7-1 record in conference play. Notre Dame will look to improve both those records on Saturday when the team takes on the Spartans, who have struggled to just 4-8-2 on the season. The Irish won Friday’s contest 3-2.

Elsewhere in the country, Miami, which is an impressive 9-2-3 on the season, will take on Lake Superior State (7-9-0) in another conference game on Saturday. LSSU has struggled on the road, and that is good news for Miami, which is undefeated when hosting opponents. Those trends continued Friday, as the RedHawks beat the Lakers 3-2.
