No. 6 Baylor Vs. No. 4 Mizzou: With Four Guards In Double Figures, Tigers Pull Away In Second Half For 72-57 Win Over Bears

The Baylor Bears suffered their second straight double digit loss on Saturday, as Frank Haith’s four guard lineup attacked in the second half for a 15-point win

The No.4 ranked Missouri Tigers improved to 23-2 on Saturday with a convincing 72-57 home win over the Baylor Bears. The Tigers, who escaped Waco with a one-point win last month, had four players in double figures as they attacked Baylor with a four-guard lineup in the second half.

Phil Pressey led the Tigers with 19 points, hitting four of seven three-pointers, but all three other guards chipped in as well. Marcus Denmon had 16 points on 50 percent shooting from the field and three-point range. Michael Dixon came in off the bench and added 16 points, hitting four threes of his own and Kim English rounded out the backcourt attack with 12 points. As a group, the Tigers hit 14 of their 28 attempts from downtown.

Baylor really struggled to respond once Mizzou got some momentum going on the offensive end. It was their second straight double digit loss to what are considered the other two of the big three teams in their conference. With four guards on the floor, the Bears dominated on the glass early but could not answer on the offensive end with Quincy Miller the only Baylor player in double figures. He finished with 20 points but Perry Jones III struggled mightily and scored only four points on 2 of 12 shooting.

Mizzou now hosts Oklahoma State, one of two teams to beat them this season, on Wednesday night in Columbia. Baylor, which will tumble out of the top ten, hosts Iowa State on Monday night.
