Mathieu Perreault’s goal midway through the third period did not come off his stick. He actually deflected it in with his face, cutting the Ottawa Senators’ lead to 4-2. It has been that kind of season for the Washington Capitals, who continued to suffer from bad starts and bad bounces during a 5-2 loss Wednesday.
Capitals Vs. Senators: Washington Continues Collapse, Falls 5-2 To Ottawa
It seems that with every passing game comes more misfortune for the Caps.

Erik Karlsson and Milan Michalek gave the Senators a 2-0 lead late in the first period, the fifth time in six games that the Caps have trailed 2-0. Being behind on the road is nothing new for the Caps; they have only lead after the first period just four times on the road this season. Yet, it seems that with every passing games comes more misfortune.
This time, they were without Alex Ovechkin, out with a lower-body injury. Hopefully, he will not be out for long. Otherwise, the shorthanded Caps will have a higher hill to climb than the two points that are keeping them out of the playoffs.
