St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher held a newsworthy press conference at the NFL Scouting Combine Friday. Among other topics, he said the Rams have "never" considered trading quarterback Sam Bradford and have discussed unrestricted free agent Albert Haynesworth.
But more than anything else, Fisher was asked about the Rams trading the No. 2 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. After Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III officially measured in at 6-foot-2 3/8, the value of the pick increased.
Fisher said if a trade takes place, it could happen on draft day, which is usual, or leading up to the draft.
"It really depends on a team's need," Fisher said. "Because the rookie wage scale is different it may be perceived to be more attractive. We have options."
Either way, the Rams will benefit from keeping the pick or trading it for multiple selections.
"Having the No. 2 pick is a great opportunity," Fisher said. "It will define the immediate and long term future of this franchise."
