When Janoris Jenkins met the media at the NFL Combine Sunday, he was peppered with questions about his past drug use and getting kicked out of Florida.
Janoris Jenkins frank about drug issues at NFL Combine
To his credit, Jenkins answered every one, regardless of how touchy the subject. Jenkins admitted NFL teams have been asking him about his drug possession, the number of times he was arrested and how many tests he failed.
Jenkins was frank, saying he was arrested three times. Twice was for marijuana possession, once for a bar fight. At Florida, he had one positive drug test and vows to never smoke again.
That’s because Jenkins wants to support his four children, Janois Jenkins Jr., Legend, Janorian and Paris.
“I’m done with marijuana forever. I can’t do it, man,” Jenkins said.
After being kicked out at Florida, Jenkins landed at North Alabama where instead of playing front of nearly 100,000 people on Saturdays, he was in front of abut 3,500 on Thursdays. But the different schedule allowed Jenkins to watch his former teammates.
“I watched my old teammates play. And it struck me then. Man, I’m supposed to be on the field those guys,” Jenkins said.
