Mychal Kendricks impresses at the combine

The Combine still has one more day to go but Mychal Kendricks stole the show for the LBs today. He ran an incredible 4.41 and showcased his remarkable athleticism in the broad jump and vertical. To go along with this great athleticism, Kendricks looked awesome in drills as well. Kendricks came into the combine as a fourth round prospect but should now be considered a second to third round prospect. Another thing Kendricks has going for him is that he is scheme diverse and he might be able to play some safety as well along with covering slot WR's. After the jump see highlights on Kendricks and my updated ILB position rankings. Expect a player profile on Kendricks in the coming weeks.

Updated ILB Rankings

1. Luke Kuechly, Boston College - Kuechly's solid 40 time and great vertical jump erased any doubts of his athleticism and cemented him as a top 20 guy

2. Donta Hightower, Alabama - Hightower put any questions about his speed to rest running a 4.62 twice

3. Zach Brown, North Carolina

4. Mychal Kendricks, California

5. Bruce Irvin, West Virginia - Irvin is a considered a 3-4 OLB prospect by many but I think he can play ILB as well in a 3-4 scheme.

6. Audie Cole, N.C. State - Cole was a bit of a disappointment running a slow 40 and not looking great in drills

7. James Michael-Johnson, Nevada

8. Jerry Franklin, Arkansas

9. Tank Carder, TCU

10. Chris Marve, Vanderbilt

11. Carmen Messina, New Mexico

12. J.K. Schaffer, Cincinnati

13. Demario Davis, Arkansas State

14. Vontaze Burfict, Arizona State - Burfict is the major faller of this group running an embarrassing 4.93 and 5.10 in the 40. He looked out of shape and un-interested. He will be lucky to be drafted.
