The Indianapolis Colts releasing Peyton Manning is such an inevitable that the NFL media world is already lining up Manning's next destination. Plenty of folks have pointed out the obvious teams like the Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins as teams likely to make a run at Manning.
Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne A Package Deal?
And whichever one of those teams does eventually land Manning could also be getting Reggie Wayne. The Colts receiver is scheduled to be a free agent and a report from Peter King of SI.com suggests that the two want to be considered a package deal.
Such a pairing would not only be a plus for Manning, who would love to see it happen, according to one NFL source. It would allow him to go to his new team with one familiar receiving face, and if you can say one thing about Manning, it’s that he loves familiarity, particularly in how his receivers anticipate throws and the precision of their route-running.
You can probably throw Pierre Garcon into the package-deal speculation. He reportedly turned down a five-year deal from the Colts, which makes you wonder if he's waiting things out to see where Manning lands. Any receiver should want to be with Manning because he makes them look good (which in turn makes them a lot more money).
It’s still too early to figure out specific front-runners in the race for Manning but this news on Wayne adds a wrinkle to the situation.
