No. 6 Baylor Vs. Oklahoma State: Bears Dominate Inside, Hold On For 64-60 Win Over Cowboys

Perry Jones III and Quincy Acy had their way on the inside against Oklahoma State, but a young Cowboys team kept it close until the final seconds.

The No. 6 ranked Baylor Bears improved to 21-2 on the year with a Saturday afternoon road win over Oklahoma State. The Cowboys, who are just 4-5 in the conference, are a young team that has hit their stride lately, especially at home at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

But the Bears simply had too much power down low, as Quincy Acy and Perry Jones III had their way in the paint, with both contributing double-double performances. Jones III hit 7 of 13 from the floor, controlling the paint and scoring 16 points while grabbing 11 boards. Acy grabbed 12 rebounds, while also adding 11 points on the offensive end. In the backcourt, Pierre Jackson was just two of eight chucking from behind the arc but tied Jones with a team-high 16 points.

Travis Ford’s club battled all afternoon, but could not climb back from a Baylor run mid way through the second half. They kept the game within single digits all day, but could not keep up on the glass. Freshman Brian Williams led the Cowboys 23 points, while fellow frosh Le’Bryan Nash added 11.

The Bears now host the Kansas Jayhawks in Waco on Wednesday, in what will be a matchup of two of Big 12's power three teams.
